Thirlmere is a location that I do not visit to often, I find it difficult to get reasonable images from here for some reason.
The hot sunny weather continues in the Lake District, nearly 11 weeks of high temperatures and sunshine, not the norm, but we make the best of it, as the corona-virus travel restrictions have been relaxed, we decided to set off to Thirlmere for a leisurely weekends's afternoons walk.
We were surprised to see the water levels so low, so early in the summer, a result of the unusual warm, dry spell that we have had.
We walked down to the waters edge and were greeted by many people appearing to be walking around the lake using the exposed lake shore as their pathway.
Although the sun was high in the sky, with very harsh light and deep shadows, I decided to have a go at getting some photographs of the location.
There was little island that was protruding through the waters surface which i thought could make interesting mid ground of the view looking along the length of the lake with this demonstrating how low the water levels were in the lake.
I used a long exposure to flatten the waters surface and to add a little movement of the clouds in the sky. I added a polariser filter to take the shine off the water and add a deep blueness to the sky and pull out the whiteness of the clouds.
The photo is not the best that I have taken, but it captures the mood of the day and the blue sky with white fluffy clouds being blown across the scene.
We spent a couple of hours walking around the wooded shores of Thirlmere, but I struggled to pick out any compositions of the clutter within the woods.
